Fun in the Sun (50%)

The Hamptons!

So after being in the city for seven years I've finally made it out to the Hamptons. My destination was South Hampton and while it may not be East Hampton don't take it too lightly as this quaint, beach town is still the land of the wealthy.

As you drive by the larger estates and try to get glimpses of the houses that are set far back and behind 10 foot hedges one wonders who are the fabulous people that summer here and what different lives they lead.

We stopped for brunch/lunch at 75 main. After fighting with the hostess to be seated outside even though the outside seats seemed to be reserved for customers with dogs we enjoyed ggs benedict with salmon, steak and eggs, and omlette for 3.

Above is an image of Coopers Beach concession stand and bathrooms stolen off of the SouthHampton Village website. It was pretty crowded and with all that fine, white, sand floating about I did not want to subject my poor iphone to the elements. This has got to be the best beach I've been to on the northeast. The water was chilly but clean and the sun was shining brightly all afternoon for some nice color.

The afternoon activities only started at the beach. We ended up at Polo, not for the horses, though I did get quite few pictures of them from the car and the walk up to the tent...

but for the free alcohol and the enticing crumbs cupcakes.

After all the sweets and alcohol we were in the mood for some real food as they did not have a buffet at Polo. We drove to Bridge Hampton and had a fabulous meal at Bobby Van's. I feasted on Steamed halibut with mediterranean Orzo.

A few random pit stops later we ended up at Pink Elephant for late night dancing and drinking.

Tired and hungry again (suprise!) the night (early morning) ended with microwaved bagels with butter and the next day, bad weather and all, the day started with the best egg and cheese ever made.

Can we say LOBSTER on a cloudy day. stuffed, broiled, steamed, 2 lbs, 4lbs.. the combinations are endlessly tasty.
